In a recent article published by the Dallas Morning News... Canadian law experts confirmed that, while his parents worked in the oil industry in Alberta, Ted Cruz' upon birth in Calgary, became a citizen of Canada.
Then ~ Is Ted Cruz an American?
Evidently, this is true. According to the Texas Senators "birth certificate", his mother is an American citizen, born in Delaware. This fact, indeed makes Ted Cruz an American citizen. This is despite of his birth location or the nationality of his father. A Cuban and "unwitting" communist revolutionary.

In a Washington Post article... Cruz, a 42 year old Harvard man and rising Tea Party darling, upon learning of his dual citizenship lamented... " I will renounce any Canadian citizenship. Nothing against Canada, but I’m an American by birth and as a U.S. senator, I believe I should be only an American."
The Republican (?) Senator from Texas, has yet to take any official action...
Is Ted Cruz Eligible To Run For President?
Yes. As noted, since his mother was a citizen of the United States, Ted Cruz became a "natural born Citizen" of the United States at birth. This is regardless, of the fact, that he was born was not born in America. Cruz could have been born in Kenya for that matter and still, he'd be a "natural born Citizen" of the United States.
While the Constitution does not clarify the term "natural born Citizen", there has been a heated and varied debate on the issue. Most scholars ,on the subject, however agree that Ted Cruz is eligible to run for President.
The debate will surely linger however, as the cunning Senator Cruz, with an eye on 2016, has already made quite a name for himself among his peers and fellow "Americans".
